OUR SENSEI
道 : The Path of Azlimmi Himzal Sensei, 6th Dan Shotokan
Azlimmi Himzal Sensei began his journey in karate in 1986, stepping onto the dojo floor as a high school student in Muar, Johor. What began as training soon became a lifelong pursuit of budō — the way of discipline, character, and self-mastery.
Over the decades, he deepened his understanding through the study of multiple martial arts, including Silat, Taekwondo, Krav Maga, and Muay Thai, while grounding his spirit firmly in traditional karate. He trained under respected Malaysian instructors and internationally renowned masters, including Yahara Mikio Sensei (9th Dan) and the late Kanazawa Hirokazu Soke (10th Dan), along with senior senseis from Japan and Okinawa.
Azlimmi Sensei holds black belts in Shotokan Karate and Okinawan Shorin-ryu Seibukan, representing both power and precision, tradition and practicality.
Founded on the principle of training without politics or ego, the dojo evolved through many challenges. From Seiken Self Defence Academy to Seiken Karatenomichi, and reborn in 2023 as Shōtōkan Budōkai, the mission has never changed:
-
Train sincerely
-
Walk the path
-
Preserve true karate-do
Today, Azlimmi Sensei dedicates himself full-time to guiding students on the lifelong path of budō — not merely to fight, but to become stronger in body, mind, and spirit.
