Azlimmi Himzal Sensei began his training in martial arts in 1986 when he joined his high school Karate Club in Muar, Johor. Since then he has also undertaken to learn other martial arts such as Silat Sendeng, Taekwondo, Krav Maga, and Muay Thai to name a few. Among his notable karate instructors in Malaysia includes Vince Choo Sensei (SKIF), Irene Teh Sensei (SKIF), Ridzuan Md Zain Sensei (SKIF), Micheal Lim Sensei (JKA / Kusano-ha Shito-ryu) and Pathmanathan Sensei (Okinawan Shorin-ryu Seibukan).

Throughout his career as a professional martial arts instructor, he has had the opportunity to train with renowned karate masters such as Hirokazu Kanazawa Kancho (10th dan, SKIF), Toshiaki Namiki Sensei (8th Dan, JSKF), Kenji Kusano Sensei (9th Dan, Kusano-Ha Shito-Ryu), Vince Morris Sensei (8th Dan, Kissaki-kai), Okamoto Hideki Sensei (8th Dan, JKA), Kasuya Hitoshi Sensei (8th Dan, WSKF),  Takenori Tanaka Sensei (8th Dan, JKS), Mikio Yahara Sensei (8th Dan, KWF), and Jamal Measara Sensei (9th Dan, Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Seibukan) to name a few. He currently holds black belts in Shotokan and Shorin-Ryu Seibukan.

Azlimmi Himzal Sensei started Seiken Self Defence Academy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia as a place for like-minded karate-ka to come learn and practice their art without the constraints of politics or style. Unfortunately, he had to close the doors of his dojo a year later to concentrate on work. In June 2006 he started classes for the revived Seiken in Melaka, under the guidance of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Seibukan Karate-Do Association of Malaysia. In mid-2008, Azlimmi rebranded the Academy as the Seiken Karatenomichi Academy and decided to refocus his training and teaching to Shotokan Karate. The Johor Bahru Dojo was established in 2009 and Kuala Lumpur Dojo in 2016. During the 2020 - 2022 COVID-19 lockdowns in Malaysia, the Academy unfortunately, as with almost every dojo in the world, had to close its doors. Despite all the challenges, once again we open our doors again in 2023 as the Shōtōkan Budōkai.

Azlimmi Sensei currently dedicates himself full-time to the growth and expansion of the Shōtōkan Budōkai and to traditional karate-do. Anyone experiencing withdrawal symptoms from lack of training can WhatsApp Azlimmi Sensei at +6.010.800.3656 for a training date.
