Coach Azlimmi Himzal is the visionary founder and Head Coach of Know Options Self Defense, bringing decades of martial arts mastery and practical self-protection training to individuals and communities across Malaysia. As a dedicated martial artist and seasoned instructor, Coach Azlimmi leads with a passion for empowering people of all ages — especially women and girls — to defend themselves confidently, safely, and effectively.

 

A lifelong student and teacher of martial arts, Azlimmi holds a high-level black belt and has over 30 years of training experience, grounded in Shotokan Karate and enriched by years of self-defense coaching and real-world applications. He also founded Shotokan Budokai, a respected martial arts school where discipline, control, and self-improvement are core values.

 

Under Coach Azlimmi’s direction, Know Options Self Defense programmes focus on practical, easy-to-learn techniques that work under stress and in real-life situations — not just in the dojo. Participants learn awareness, verbal de-escalation, body mechanics, instinctive movement, and effective physical responses that don’t require exceptional strength or athleticism.

His approach is rooted in the belief that self-defense isn’t just about physical moves — it’s about mindset, confidence, personal safety awareness, and knowing how to respond under pressure. Coach Azlimmi’s teaching style is clear, encouraging, and grounded in decades of experience helping students build both skill and courage.

Beyond regular workshops and classes, Azlimmi is deeply committed to community impact. He leads Self Defense 4 Hope, an initiative dedicated to offering free self-defense training and scholarships for girls and women from low-income or at-risk backgrounds, helping to reduce vulnerability and promote personal empowerment.

Coach Azlimmi regularly shares his expertise at seminars, school programmes, and public forums, and continues to evolve Know Options Self Defense with the goal of making personal safety knowledge accessible to everyone.
